Make a Christmas Tree Ribbon for Your Holiday Packages | Simple Tips and Instructions

Have you ever seen something on the internet and it looks SO easy and pretty and you are compelled to try it? Well, I was in that camp with the ribbon Christmas tree. It looks pretty straight forward and quick, doesn’t it? My first couple of tries were a struggle but I persevered and changed a few things that made the effort indeed easy and simple. Let me save you the struggle!

Adding a ribbon Christmas tree to your gift wrap is an easy way to make your presents stand out under the tree! Whether you’re a seasoned DIYer or a beginner, these simple tips and step-by-step instructions will help you create a stunning ribbon tree with ease.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Gift box or wrapped package (I used brown masking paper that I use when painting cabinets)

Ribbon (pliable or wired) Note: Double sided ribbon offers consistent color)

Hot glue gun and glue sticks ( This is the hot glue gun I use. I have a lot of Ryobi tools so I have batteries. Cordless is key!)

Scissors (These are my absolute favorite!)

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Pro Tips to Make It Easy:

1️⃣ Pick the Right Ribbon: Use a soft, pliable ribbon or wired ribbon. Stiff ribbon is harder to shape and won’t lay nicely. The wired ribbon allows you to mold the ribbon and place where you need.
2️⃣ Start at the Top: Cut a piece of ribbon to form the first loop at the top of your tree. Secure it to the package with a dot of hot glue.
3️⃣ Build Your Tree: Gradually make larger loops as you work your way up to the bottom of the tree, gluing each one in place.
4️⃣ Space Generously: Leave a bit of space between each loop to save on ribbon and create a clean, layered look.
5️⃣ Top It Off: Add a small bow, star, or any embellishment to the top of your tree for a festive finish.

key tips

Use hot glue instead of double sided tape for stronger hold.

Use ribbon that is either very pliable and light such as satin ribbon or wired ribbon that hold the shape.

Space the ribbon generously to use less and keep the tree neat.

With just a few materials and these simple steps, you can create a beautiful ribbon Christmas tree to make your holiday gifts extra special. Try it today and impress everyone on your list!
