This Christmas centerpiece came together as some of my favorites do — without a big plan, a big budget, or another shopping trip.
I used items I already had on hand, leaned into natural textures, and let everything work together instead of forcing a theme. The result feels classic, cozy, and calm — exactly what I want my home to feel like this season.
If you’re craving something festive but simple, this is a great example of how less really can be enough.
What I Used for This Centerpiece
Here’s everything that went into it below. If you are missing an item or two here is a link to items similar to what I used.
Glass vase
A clear, simple vase that lets the layers show through beautifully.
Decorated pinecones
I made these myself — remember the pinecone ideas from my post From Simple to Stunning: 4 Easy Ways to Decorate Pinecones for Christmas 2025? Those were perfect for this centerpiece. They add texture, character, and a personal touch.
Dried hydrangea blooms
Soft, neutral, and perfect for winter. Dried florals are one of my favorite ways to decorate because they last year after year.
Greenery
A mix of faux and fresh greenery works beautifully here. Use whatever you have on hand — stems from past arrangements are perfect. I got mine at Hobby Lobby for 50% off.
Twinkle lights
Battery-operated lights tucked inside the vase add the softest glow, especially in the evenings. (These were left over from a baby shower!)
Ribbon
I used what I had on hand (and, I have a lot)! I leaned toward something that was see -through so you can still see the pinecones.
How It Came Together
Hydrangea
Start by placing the dried hydrangea in the vase first. This gives the arrangement height and helps anchor everything else.

DIY Pinecones
Add your decorated pinecones next. Nestle them in so they feel intentional and balanced, creating texture and weight.

Twinkle Lights
Gently tuck the battery-operated lights around and behind the hydrangea so the glow filters through the arrangement.

Greenery
Fill in with greenery, letting it soften the edges and spill naturally. This is where the centerpiece really comes to life.

Ribbon
Finish with ribbon tied around the vase or woven into the greenery for a subtle, festive touch.

Why This Works
It uses natural textures that feel timeless
Everything is neutral and flexible, not tied to one trend
It reuses decorations you may already have
Most importantly, it didn’t require buying something new
This is the kind of decorating I’m leaning into more and more — thoughtful, simple, and personal.
