If you love hosting or decorating for events, this DIY welcome sign is a must! I wanted something simple and stylish that could be used over and over again. So I made a frame that lets me slide in a printed sign—perfect for weddings, showers, birthdays, and more. Here’s how I made it! (Also, the blogpost on how to make the stand is here.)
WHAT I USED:
Frosted acrylic– I found the best price for a 24×36 sheet at Menard’s.
Wainscot cap moulding – Cut to match the size of your acrylic and your printed sign.
Wood glue, stain or paint, poly
Stir sticks (yes, the free ones!)
how i made it:
1. Trim first: Cut three sides of your moulding to fit the acrylic sheet (leave the top open). I matched the size to fit a standard printed poster I’d use for events. I put the trim on the front and back of the acrylic (welcome on one side and a thank you for coming on the other)
2. Paint or stain: I stained mine and sealed with poly, but paint works great too—choose whatever fits your vibe.
3. Assemble the frame: Glue the three sides of trim together with wood glue. Leave the top piece loose so you can easily slide signs in and out.

4. Adhere to acrylic: Use stir sticks to help align the mitered corners smoothly, then glue the moulding to the acrylic using E6000. I did this on both sides—one side says “Welcome,” and the other says “Thanks for coming!”

why i love it:
* I can reuse it for any event by just swapping out the paper sign.
* It looks so much better than an easel.
* It’s affordable and easy to store.
Try it for your next event—it’s a small DIY that makes a big impact!
