Bathroom Update! Affordable changes with big impact

Bathroom Update! Affordable changes with big impact

Another bathroom update? You bet! I had 3 weeks while my nephew was traveling on business to update 2 bathrooms and the laundry rooms. I have a few units with this footprint, so I knew exactly what to do! My son, Kevin, helped with removing the toilet, mirror and vanity. Check out the in-progress demo below — 2 layers of linoleum.

Flooring

I hired someone to remove the linoleum. To be honest, that is one of my least favorite jobs and I had 3 rooms to get done. Worth the investment in my book!

I had just enough left over tile from the kitchen floor to use in this space. So, I had no additional tile cost — just the mortar and grout.

Walls

I removed a recessed medicine cabinet (in both the bathrooms that I was working on) and some other drywall repair needed, so I had someone tend to all the drywall patching.

I had paint (Sherwin Williams Alpaca) left over from another job and painted the walls. The ceiling is Sherwin Williams Alabaster. I added the base molding after I painted.

Vanity

I found this unused 27 inch cabinet on OfferUp for $80. It is deeper than a bathroom cabinet, but there was enough space and allowed for more counter space. I created a false front with a pop-out sink tray for a little extra storage.

The granite is from Precision Stone Design, a local shop here for $250. I purchased the sink ($50) and faucet ($45) from Amazon. I used the same granite and faucets in the master bath.

Lighting and Bling

The light fixture was from a local liquidation shop. I bought a variety of fixtures which was liquidated inventory from Wayfair. I think this was $25.

The towel bars ($16) and toilet paper holder ($15) are from Amazon and are nice quality compared to the builder grade materials I pulled out of here.

The mirror was 66% off from Hobby Lobby, at about $33.
