Creating custom acrylic signs for special events has been such a fun and creative process! 🎉 This blog post is a roundup of the four acrylic signs I’ve made for weddings and baby showers, including my latest DIY welcome sign for my niece’s baby shower. The sign stand was originally made for my son’s wedding shower. In this post, I’ll share the details on how the acrylic sign was made, plus materials and tips to make these on your own!
Let’s take a look at the signs!

Acrylic Sign Instructions

1️⃣ Get the Acrylic: I purchased a 24” x 36” frosted acrylic sheet from Menards for about $40—$7 less than the one from Home Depot. (Still searching for a better source!)
2️⃣ Create the Lettering: Using my Cricut, I cut some signs with the Annie Leu and Brewery No 2 Paneuropean Medium fonts—I loved these fonts for a couple of the signs. For two of the signs, I used the fonts from the shower invitations. (Curlystars, Helvetica Neue, Book Antiqua)
3️⃣ Apply the Vinyl: I used adhesive vinyl from Michael’s (thanks to a gift card!) and carefully applied the letters to the acrylic. Amazon has Cricut vinyl as well. I prefer the removable vinyl just because it is easier to work with. It adhered and stayed well. It was challenging to get the lettering straight – measuring and painter’s tape helped!
4️⃣ Add 3D Embellishments with Moulds: These embellishments were inspo from an Anthropologie dresser. These embellishments looked lovely on the signs as well. I used a mix of floral or baby-themed moulds, depending on the event. Because the sign is large, I prefer larger moulds but this wasn’t always easy to find.
I used hot glue to create the mould, then painted them white for a clean, elegant look. I initially hand painted these and found it was much easier to spray paint. (I was worried that the pressure from the spray paint would blow the pieces around, but it did not! And, so much faster!)

Once dry, I adhered them to the acrylic using E6000 glue for a strong hold.

Why hot glue instead of resin? It dries quickly and is more affordable, making it an easy DIY solution!
5️⃣ Assemble the Sign Stand: The stand was originally made for my son’s wedding shower, and I repurposed it for the other events.! (Full details on how I made the stand are included in this post.)
Hope you find inspiration for your next event!
