Laundry Room Refresh

Laundry Room Refresh

Tile, paint and molding are the key updates taking this laundry room from dated and dull to current and fresh.  This laundry room is from my daughter, Kelly’s, townhouse and it was one of several rooms that needed updating.

This is the room “before” the update – builder basic with white walls, linoleum flooring and 2 inch molding.

TILE

The floor tile is Montalcino Dimarmi Bianco Stone Look Porcelain Tile from Floor and Decor.  This tile is super affordable at $1.99/square foot. The tile has hints of taupe and grey with some movement to add interest and it affords flexibility in carpeting selection (gray, taupe).  Kelly used this tile throughout the townhouse.

PAINT

The paint color is Benjamin Moore Wedgewood Grey but I got a color match with Sherwin Williams paint products. And, as I have said with almost every project, paint is the most affordable update you can make to clean up your walls and add personality.

MOLDING

Learning how to install molding was one of best value-add skills we learned.  Not only does new, white molding finish off a room nicely, it has saved us a bunch of money.  This is 4 1/1 inch molding with quarter round shoe.

This laundry room is sizable and could accommodate a utility sink.  (I wish my laundry room had room!). So, Kelly had one installed and added some function to the space.
