Wedding Shower Balloon Arch

Wedding Shower Balloon Arch

What’s a wedding shower without balloons? To be honest, this is something I wanted to try and knew my son’s wedding shower would be the perfect occasion.

Balloon Arch Stand

The balloon arch would be freestanding in the wedding shower event space. Meaning, there would be no good place to attach the balloons, apart from a “stand”. I did a test run on the arch and stand and discovered it would be best to build a stand with two sides and one top pole. I used PVC pipe for the sides and top; 90 degree elbow fitting to attach the three poles together.

The stand base was made from wood with a hole drilled to fit the PVC pipe. I sprayed the entire stand gold. The stand was easy to transport and assemble at the venue.

Balloons

I purchased these balloons from Amazon. I used 2 sets to fill the arch. During my ”practice” run, I learned a few things. (1) Do not over-inflate the balloons. ( This allows for room at the neck of the balloon to make a knot. And, far less casualties.) (2) Making bundles then balloon clusters was an easier path to making the arch. (3) Using these balloons to attach the bundles together was easier than using the plastic tape that came with the balloons. (4) This balloon pump was the best $20 I ever spent!

I individually wrapped the three bunches of balloons in painter’s plastic. It made it easy to transport, but needed two cars.

The arch turned out so pretty! And, was definitely a good idea for decor and picture taking. I think I would make it a bit more full the next time!
