The first tiling project we tackled in my daughter, Kelly’s, new townhouse was her second bathroom. It is small in size, but has just enough room to be functional and beautiful at the same time. The bathroom has the comfort of a home spa with marble-like tile flooring, larger subway tile with a classic but current look and faucets and lighting adding the right amount of sparkle.
The townhouse was built in the late 1990’s with the typical builder grade finishes. We had a handyman pull up the linoleum and remove the shower tile, molding and vanity and replaced the drywall in the shower.
Kelly made great design choices. This floor tile is Dimarni Bianco Stone Look porcelain tile from Floor and Decor. This tile was an affordable choice at $1.99 per square foot. We used a medium grey grout to compliment the grey tones showing up in the tile pattern.
Next up was the shower, tiled with Mailica Wall tile from Floor and Decor at $.85 /piece . Kelly choose a 4 x 10 tile for a more updated subway tile look and we hoped it wouldn’t take as long to lay the tile! It felt like it took forever despite of the larger size.
Kelly picked Stonington Gray from Benjamin Moore. We always buy Sherwin Williams paint but like this color so did a color match with a Sherwin Williams product. The vanity from Wayfair (our new favorite online home decor site!)
We had a mirror (a $15 Facebook marketplace find) and re-painted it to match the color of the vanity. The Delta chrome faucet is from Amazon and reasonably priced at $150. The new doors are from Lowe’s — a great sale around Christmas, 2017.
Just beautiful!!
