I definitely had a closet that reminded me of Monica Geller’s (Friends) secret hall closet. My closet was in a guest bedroom and was home to tons of crafty things, luggage and an over abundance of gift wrapping supplies. Every time I opened the closet to grab something (almost daily), it made me crabby. All of this stuff was in a small bedroom closet.
The bedroom closet is small and the aim was to optimize the space. It seemed doable?? The standard wire rack was removed and the holes patched.
The plan was to use melamine boards (pegged and non-pegged) to build a stack of cubbies down the center, shelving on the sides, with most shelves being adjustable and a bin for wrapping paper rolls. One of the advantages of using the melamine boards is that is no painting is required. Building with plywood is likely less expensive, but more labor. Before the shelves went in, I painted the walls with paint I had on hand (SW Alabaster)
The shelving was installed, including the bin and hooks for gift wrapping supplies.
The “stuff” made its way back into the closet! This makes me so happy. Now I’ll need to do something with this room!
