How to Make Your DIY Santa Ornament
Follow these simple steps to create a charming Santa ornament that will make your tree extra special!
Step 1: Prepare the Ornament Base
Apply a base coat (likely 2) of white paint. Let the paint dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 2: Add Santa’s Hat
- 1. Cut the top of a sock up to the heel of the sock to create Santa’s hat.
- 2. Put around the top of the ornament and bring the hanger through the sock.
- 3. Hand stitch the sock so the sock leans to the left like a stocking cap.
- 4. Stitch on white pom pom to end of cap.
- 5. With hot glue attach the velvet trim to the brim of cap.
Step 3: Paint Santa’s Face
- 1. Mix flesh color paint and paint an area for the Santa’s face.
- 2. Dip the end of a paint brush in blue paint and tap on ball to make eyes. Once dry, make small dots in each eye with black paint. Once dry, add a white highlight in each eye.
- 3. With a fine tip brush, paint a small oval with red paint for the nose. Once dry, add a white highlight on tip of nose.
- 4. Dip the end of a paint brush in black paint and tap on ball to make mouth.
- 5. Apply light pink paint with a dry brush for cheeks.
- 6. With a fine brush paint bushy eyebrows.
Step 4: Make Santa’s Beard
- Cut two small pieces of rope — one 2″ long, the other 3″ long.
- Wrap white thread around the middle of each piece, individually.
- Fray the ends of each piece up to the thread.
- Attach 3″ piece below the mouth with hot glue
- Attach 2″ piece above the mouth with hot glue
Step 5: GLITTER
Spray Glitter Blast to lightly cover Santa!
