Garden decor

Garden decor

I just love garden decor, a good dupe and repurposing items into a new life. I was gifted some metal wall decor and found inspiration on the Grandin Road site to give it new life. These Grandin Road wall panels are $199 each and really quite pretty. I thought these would be beautiful outdoor decor outside my kitchen.

Since the aim was to create garden decor, I spray painted the metal decor and hardware with Rustoleum to help with the outdoor wear.

I used cedar pickets as an affordable way to frame out the metal decor. I applied outdoor sealer that I had on hand to protect the wood (not required) and the sealer warmed up the wood color a bit.

I cut the pickets to the length to fit around the metal decor. I thought I could use pocket holes to join the sides together, but the boards were a bit too thin. I used wood glue and these flat angle brackets. The brackets added a bit of detail. I used these mending brackets on each side of the picket to keep the metal decor in place. I used a 1 inch bolt to attach the front to back with a nut.

Although not as fancy as the inspo picture, these turned out really pretty! I love how these looks in the patio area.

These look great on the fence!
