Kitchen Refresh | 5 High Impact Changes to Gorgeous in Gold and Grey

Kitchen Refresh | 5 High Impact Changes to Gorgeous in Gold and Grey

My kitchen was one of the last, big projects to tackle in my house.  Even though I was not changing the kitchen layout or flooring, I was procrastinating a bit due to the expense and disruption. Let’s take a look at the five upgrades that transformed my kitchen from builder-grade to a gorgeous gold and grey upgrade!

CABINETS

Let’s face it, kitchen cabinets have significant impact when changing the look of a kitchen.  With this remodel, I budgeted for new cabinets, but didn’t break the bank.  I went to my friends at Dawson Builders for my Aspect cabinets (Aspen, Poplar) with a lovely grey stain (shadow)!  The grey stain allows the wood grain to show through but still depth in color.  The cabinets go to the ceiling which added an additional shelf for storage. (My kitchen is small!) The contrast to the walnut, hardwood was perfect as well.

COUNTERTOP

Along with the cabinets, the countertops seemed to add richness to the room.  This marble-look granite was an affordable and practical choice.  Aura Ice Dunes from Precision Stone Design was a mid-priced granite with some sparkle and movement.  It looks just lovely.  I had enough granite for a countertop in my Half bath.

FARMHOUSE SINK

The farmhouse sink was a bit of a splurge and a bit of a challenge.  Not only was the sink pricey (on sale for $800), a plumber was needed to move fit the sink and the cabinet also needed to be cut to fit the sink. The sink is reversible and I chose to have the scalloped side to be outward facing.

BACKSPLASH

This tile was was sourced through Floor and Decor. Although installed in a traditional subway pattern, the tile size is more current and has texture and shine.  I installed these myself (so, pretty basic!).

ALL THINGS GOLD

I ordered the Delta Faucet in Champaign Bronze, which was the start of my gold obsession.  The drawer knobs and Pulls were sourced through through MyKnobs.com.  These really added some elegance to the cabinets. I also used these on my cabinet in the Half bath.

The bronze light fixtures and paper towel holder needed to be updated.  Refer to the Half Bath Refresh (Other decor) for details on the product used to transform the bronze into champagne!
