MCM Pieces get new life with Some Embellishments

These mid-century modern tables have sleek lines were good project pieces with a lot of lessons. Another way to say this is — I almost threw these out because it was challenging all along the way. Ever have a project that you think is a good idea in the beginning and just lose steam? I was feeling that with these two tables. If I started with the “finish” photo in mind, it would have been much easier.

I love “before” pictures”. This is what these tables looked like before I started. I was overly optimistic that I would be able to repair this finish — which was the biggest challenge.

In the end, I was not able to fully sand off the damaged areas and painted the pieces. I applied paint with the HomeRight Paint Sprayer. I use this for most of my projects.

Even with paint, the imperfections were still visible. I added wood embellishments (paint sticks) to disguise the flaws. This made a modest improvement in terms of disguising the flaws but, I really like the design aspect of this addition. You can see from the picture below, I tried powder glaze as well and this seemed to sit in all of the areas I didn’t want to see. In the end, I painted it a solid color.

I dipped the legs in gold! (Spray paint)

And, added some gold hardware!

These are looking sweet and pretty! I am happy I stuck with it!
