A good friend of mine moved houses and gifted me a bunch of random items and I have been creating ever since – and, in this case, this standing mixer got a refresh! I love the DIY community on Instagram. I got inspiration from Dale at Blooming DIYer and had confidence to tackle this unexpected paint project.
I am a baker and love the Kitchenaide. This one is about 30 years old and in good working condition. I thought it would be fun to paint it the color of the kitchen island. It really was pretty straight forward!
I removed the metal looking pieces; taped off the motor and cord; and, scuff sanded the body of the appliance and applied primer with my paint sprayer. Dale (Blooming DIYer) used spray paint, but since I wanted to match a color, I needed to use paint sprayer.
I used Sherwin Williams All Surface Enamel, with a Benjamin Moore color match, Hidden Falls. I applied a few coats and lightly sanded in between. As a extra measure, I applied MinWax Polycrylic as well.
I reattached the metal pieces and it looks brand new. I’ll let you know how it holds up. I checked with Dale and she says hers looks great after a year, so, I am hopeful!
