Adding wall decor to a room can add warmth, color and interest — this is nothing new. Filling blank walls can be daunting – but, with a little patience and reflection, you can create something meaningful and not necessarily spend a fortune.
My daughter, Kelly, moved into a new townhouse and had very little decor to fill the space. She spends a lot of time in her home office with a lot of light and high ceilings. I took some time and looked for some quotes from some of the people she follows on social media or podcasts. Kelly is a fan of Gary Vaynerchuk (Owner of Vanyer Media, among other things). I found one of his quotes on Pinterest that might work well for motivation in the workday. “Dream. Wake up. Go do.”
I ordered the wooden words from an Etsy shop and needed to decide what to do with them. The wood is thin and fragile, so something stable was needed. I had an old piece of artwork that had a nice frame. I painted the print with sample paint from Sherwin Williams that I bought for another project. (SW Distance). I applied two coats with a small foam roller.
I wanted the words to project from the surface for some dimension and interest. I used black spray paint (also from my paint stash) and painted several small beads. I used the glue gun to attach the words to the surface.
Once I figured out what I wanted to do with the letters, it was easy. Besides the wooden letters, there was no additional cost. I had all of the other suppliers. (Don’t you love when that happens!). Now, “go do”!
